Hello!  My name is Rose Helderman, and I have been the owner, administrator, and educator for "The Kids Place" Home Daycare and Preschool since I established it in 1990.  Although we have lived in three different locations in the Cleveland area during those years, child care has been a big part of our family life.  When a child enrolls in "The Kids Place" he/she not only gains a child care family of friends but also gains an extended family in mine.

 

I have been married to, Tom, since 1985 and we have five children ~Ryan (a nurse with CCF), Kyle (chef in Pittsburgh and graduate of The Culinary Institute of America), Lindsay (Speech-Language Pathologist), Andrew (food service cook/manager), and Kevin (high school student).  We also have two dogs, Maggie, and Murphy.

 

I enjoy many activities outside of childcare but my primary focus is my family.  Our family loves spending a lot of time together and doing things together... from Sunday family dinners to just hanging out in the yard playing games or enjoying a fire.  My husband and I are also proud grandparents to three amazing children.  I am also a proud member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

 

My experiences with children have been a big part of my life.  I started as the neighborhood babysitter, began teaching swimming lessons and a lifeguard at 15, teacher of a 5th-grade classroom after college, beginning my family of 5, to opening my child care service in 1990.  It didn't stop there as I have also become an Orton-Gillingham reading tutor and a Level 2 Ohio Approved Trainer (I teach/write classes for other child care professionals).  I keep busy and love to teach!

 

I hope to continue to "touch as many lives as I can in a positive, loving way" and continue to learn from those lives that I have the pleasure of meeting.
